Clincitop Gel For Acne Vulgaris Review

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all are in the best state of your health. :-)

I am back with another post and this time I am reviewing something.  It is going to be my very first review on my blog and of course my first review contribution to the blogosphere.

Well, everyone is familiar with the term "acne" also known as acne vulgaris and it is something that almost all of us have experienced in our lives at some point or another.  In our hectic lifestyle, acne is common.  Besides that sleep deprivation, stress, and PMS tends to trigger acne.  When I was in my adolescence, I suffered from acne a lot and had tried every possible thing that I could think of like soaps, face washes, creams, honey, turmeric, you name it, and I was unable to get rid of those “stubborn acnes.”  So what I did?  I went to the dermatologist and he had prescribed me the ointment called “Clincitop Gel” and this had helped me tremendously that I became a fan of this product since then and I just keep this handy in case I ever need it.  So yeah, today I am going to review this product named as Clincitop Gel (Clindamycin Phosphate Gel USP).

Let’s get right into the review.

Product Description:

What is Clincitop gel?
Clincitop gel is an antibiotic topical gel which is used for the treatment of acne vulgaris, pimples, and bacterial skin infections.  It is an antibacterial acne medicine cream which prevents further growth of bacterial skin infections.

How is Clincitop gel used?
Clincitop gel is safe to apply twice a day.  To apply it, first wash your face thoroughly and dry it.  Apply a thin layer and let it stay.  Apply it before any other cosmetic you might want to use.  During daytime, you can go out with it because it is not at all sun sensitive.  If you are applying it during night time, so you can leave it all night and wash your face in the morning.  Avoid contacting your eyes or on broken skin during application.  Don’t forget to wash your hands after using it.

First Look:
Clincitop comes in a light tube packaging which is white in color with a nozzle and a screw cap.  It is not a beauty product as such, but still, the look has a touch of beauty product.

Texture:
It’s a pinky tinted cream/gel, not too thick and not too runny either.  It is not visible after few seconds, so the good thing is that you can even go out with it.

Claims:
* Penetrates into the lesions.
* Stops the growth of propionibacterium acnes and prevents retention of hyperkeratosis.
* Speeds up healing.

Composition:
* Clindamycin Phosphate IP equivalent to clindamycin:  1.00% w/w
Preservatives:
* Sodium methylparaben I.P.:  0.114% w/w
* Sodium propylparaben I.P.:  0.056% w/w

My Take:
My personal opinion is that it is absolutely amazing.  As I aforementioned that it was prescribed by my dermatologist.  He had also prescribed me “Sulphur soap” along with it to clean the face before applying the Clincitop.  Since the time I have started using this, I have not been able to stop and it’s been 7 years now that I am using this product as needed.  The cream is pink in color and has a pleasant fragrance.  The fragrance is not at all bothering and remains for some time after applying the gel.  “When my dermatologist prescribed it, at that time, I used it twice a day for about one and a half month (as I had a lot of stubborn acnes) and my acnes had vanished and I was blessed with acne-free skin”.  It takes time to show visible effects so one has to be patience.  The only condition is to use it regularly for a few weeks to get rid of acnes completely.  It also inhibits the growth of acne in the future.

Now, you might be wondering if it works and shows results in few weeks then why I am using this for years?  So, in order to clear your doubts let me tell you that with PMS, I usually get acne, so I have to keep this gel handy.  Yeah, it dries out skin, but I don’t actually worry much about dryness because I am happy looking at my acne-free skin with a clear complexion.  I apply moisturizer regularly to work on the dryness.

Pros of Clincitop Gel:
  • Clinically tested.
  • Effective on acne and scars.
  • Non-messy.
  • Can go out with it.
  • Pleasant fragrance.
  • Travel-friendly.
  • Budget-friendly.

Cons of Clincitop Gel:
  • Contains parabens.
  • Can’t be applied to wounds/cuts.
  • Dries out skin.

Will I purchase it again?
Yes of course!  I am its genuine follower.  In fact, I have bought my new pack yesterday only.

Will I recommend it?
Yes, I do!  I have recommended this to my sister, cousins, and friends and even they are happy with this product.  So, if you want to use this product, believe me; patience is the key.

Price:
51.45 (INR) for 20 gram.

Life of product:

  3. In depth reviews, I like it. Since I was a tee every time my monthly period came a week before that I will get 1 or 2 big pimple/acne and even now that I am 31 I am still getting it. The good thing is that after my period is over it will be gone too, is this still normal? And I don't like it because it leaves thw skin black which is not easy to get.

    1. I am in the same boat, Cirsly. And about 70% of women suffers from menstrual acne. Acne is one of the most common signs of PMS (premenstrual syndrome), it is because of the hormonal changes so yeah it is normal.

      To get rid of dark spots, you can apply lemon or aloe vera gel/cream (or fresh aloe vera directly). It helps curing minor sunburns as well and gives you a clear complexion.
      Aloe Vera and lemon both contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which are effective in removing the dark spots. Direct use of lemon/lemon juice may cause slight irritation, so to avoid that irritation you can dilute it by adding water and then apply it. Keep it for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off. Hope this helps.

  8. Informative post. Having acne, pimples on the face are a very usual sight these days. Removal of acne and pimples is a painful procedure though but anything works if you are left with pure clear skin. On the suggestions of my peer groups, I tried revitol acnezine cream. It totally works and reduces the growth of acne. Its a must try!
