Moving Forward After Grief: How to Live with Loss and Start Healing

 

There are countless articles on grief — some poetic, some clinical, others deeply heartfelt. But when grief becomes your reality, none of them truly prepare you for the weight it carries. The silence. The suddenness. The questions that keep echoing: Why them? Why now? Why like this?
In trying to cope with grief after losing three family members in six years, I’ve learned that nothing about healing is simple — especially when the loss feels preventable.

Yes, you read it right! 3 family members!

In the past six years, I’ve lost three family members — one of them just one and a half month ago. All three gone due to heart-related complications: one to a heart attack, two to cardiac arrests. Each loss was devastating. But what cuts even deeper is knowing they might have been preventable. Medical delays. Misjudgments. Negligence. Even the doctors admitted: if things had been handled differently, the outcomes might have changed.

That knowledge doesn’t just break your heart — it unsettles your faith in the systems meant to protect us. These weren’t just personal losses. They were avoidable tragedies.

But this post isn’t only about grief.  It’s about what comes after — about learning to live with loss, to carry the weight without letting it consume you. Because while grief doesn’t end, life still expects us to move forward.


One And A Half Month Ago, I Lost My Uncle

It still feels recent, raw, and unreal.

I can still hear his voice — not from a memory long ago, but from that day in the hospital:

“It hurts so much...” he said, his voice full of pain.

“I’ll be okay, right?”

My heart shook in that moment.

I gathered every ounce of courage and replied,

“Yes, you’ll be fine...”

I meant it. I wanted it to be true. But deep down, I was terrified.

And now, even weeks later, those ICU walls still feel heavy.

Those last moments — the look in his eyes, the stillness in his body — they stay with me.


When Loss Feels Constant: Grieving Multiple Loved Ones:

It wasn’t just one goodbye. It was three. Three loved ones gone within six years, all due to heart complications.

And every time, I’ve asked the same question: Could this have been prevented?

The answer, heartbreakingly, is yes.

And when you know that — when even professionals admit mistakes were made — it makes the healing harder. You’re not just mourning; you’re angry, confused, betrayed.

But I realized something in the midst of this storm: grief doesn’t end, but life still expects us to move forward.


Moving Forward ≠ Moving On

Let me be clear: moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting, or "getting over it," or replacing pain with forced positivity. It means learning to carry that pain differently, allowing yourself to feel joy again without guilt, and accepting that grief becomes a part of your story—but not the whole of it.

I won’t lie, it’s hard. Some days, it feels impossible. But slowly, breath by breath, it becomes bearable. And then, somewhere along the way, it becomes transformative.

“Moving on” is a terrible phrase when it comes to grief. It implies you should erase the pain or pretend everything’s fine. That’s not how it works. Moving forward means learning to carry the loss in a way that doesn’t break you every day. It means allowing yourself to laugh again, to live again, while still honoring who you lost.


What Helped Me Start Healing After Loss:

Everyone’s journey is different, but here’s what helped me begin to move forward:

1. Letting Myself Feel Everything:

I stopped trying to be strong all the time. Some days, I cried. Some days, I didn’t speak. I screamed into pillows and let the emotions come — heavy, messy, honest. It was hard, but it was also freeing. Mourning deeply became a way of honoring how deeply I had loved.

2. Talking About It:

Whether through family, close friends, or writing, I talked. Suppressed grief doesn’t disappear; it only grows heavier. Letting it out gave it somewhere to go other than my heart. Saying things out loud, sharing memories, and processing guilt and anger — it was painful, but also a vital part of healing.

3. Bringing Routine Back:

Grief throws your life off balance, but routine helped me regain some rhythm. Eating on time, going outside, reading — small, steady habits that reminded me I was still here. Still alive. Still capable of healing. Even when I didn’t feel like it, these routines helped me remember that life still had structure.

 4. Remembering Their Life, Not Just Their Death:

At first, all I could focus on was their loss. But over time, I started to remember more than just the hospital and funeral moments. I remembered their laughter, their quirks, their dreams — the fullness of who they were. Celebrating their life, not just mourning their death, brought me comfort and helped shift my perspective.

5. Being Kind to Myself:

Grief isn’t linear, and I had to learn that one good week didn’t mean I was done grieving, and one bad day didn’t mean I was back at zero. I gave myself permission to heal slowly, imperfectly, and honestly. And as hard as it was, I had to remind myself: I did what I could. I loved them while they were here, and that has to count for something.


To Anyone Who’s Grieving — and Trying to Move Forward

If you're still hurting, still waking up with a heaviness in your chest, still wondering if you’re healing “the right way” — I see you.

You don’t have to rush.

You don’t have to be “okay” all the time.

You don’t need to prove anything to anyone.

You don’t have to pretend.

And you certainly don’t have to carry this burden alone.

But when you’re ready — even if just a little — know this:
It’s okay to move forward.
It’s okay to smile again.
It’s okay to laugh without guilt.
It’s okay to live fully, even after deep loss.

Moving forward doesn’t mean you’re leaving them behind.
It means carrying their love with you — into what comes next, into the life they didn’t get to finish, but you still can.
You are not betraying their memory by healing.
You are honoring it.
And that, in itself, is the most powerful tribute of all.


Final Thoughts: Grief Changes You - Let It Make You Kinder

I will always carry these losses in my heart. They’ve shaped me, broken me, and slowly rebuilt me. But they've also made me more present. More loving. More intentional. I don’t see time the same way anymore. I hold people closer. I ask about their health more often. I say “I love you” without hesitation.

Grief didn’t just leave a wound — it gave me perspective. Life is fragile — I’ve learned that painfully well. But it’s also still beautiful.

So no, I haven’t “moved on.” But I am moving forward. Not because the grief has ended, but because I now know I can carry it differently. I can walk with it — and still live fully.

I know, there are moments in life that make you question everything. The dreams you’ve worked so hard for, the goals you’ve tirelessly pursued, suddenly seem out of reach. Life can sometimes feel like an unending cycle of challenges and setbacks. Whether you’re chasing a dream, navigating a personal struggle, or simply trying to survive the chaos of everyday life, it can feel like the universe is testing your every limit.

In those moments of doubt, it’s easy to feel discouraged, to wonder if all the effort is even worth it, and to think that giving up might be the easiest way out. But here’s the truth: you are stronger than you think, and the journey you’re on is far from over.

Setbacks aren’t failures. They are stepping stones—lessons wrapped in hardship, waiting to teach us something powerful about ourselves. The key to success isn’t in avoiding challenges; it lies in how we respond to them. Every stumble, every delay, every “no” is simply a redirection, not a dead end.

The only true failure is when we stop trying.



Resilience: The Key to Moving Forward:

Resilience is more than just bouncing back from a difficult situation. It's about not letting the tough moments define you. It's about showing up, again and again, even when the odds seem stacked against you. The path to your goals might not always be smooth, but it’s the courage to keep going, to keep believing in yourself, that sets you apart.

The greatest achievers—whether in sports, business, or even personal growth—have faced numerous setbacks, yet their success lies not in their triumphs alone but in their persistence through hardship. They keep moving forward.

Life will always throw curveballs, but what matters is how you choose to respond. The most successful people aren’t the ones who never fall—they’re the ones who keep getting back up. And every time they rise, they’re stronger than before.


A Story of Strength and Growth:

Sometimes, life hands you a situation that feels like your big moment, and yet, when it’s all over, you realize you didn’t win the prize you expected. And that’s exactly what happened to me during my experience at the Mrs. India pageant. Let me share something very personal with you—an experience that, for me, defined what resilience truly means.

It was a three-day event, full of grueling rounds that tested everything from poise to intellect, from strength to confidence. I had put in the hard work. I believed I had everything it took to win the crown. I had the qualities that I thought would make me stand out—the poise, the passion, the knowledge, and the skills. But when the final results were announced, I didn’t walk away with the crown. Instead, I received the subtitle of “Mrs. Beautiful Smile.”

At first, I’ll admit, it stung. You can imagine the flood of thoughts that rushed in: What did I do wrong? Was I not good enough? But even in that moment of disappointment, I knew that one thing was certain: I didn’t lose.

You see, only one person can take home the crown.. And yet, that doesn’t mean the others failed. In fact, my life was just as fulfilling before the pageant as it is after. Winning the crown wasn't the only thing that mattered.

I walked in that pageant for the crown, but I walked out with something deeper—the strength in my stride and the spark in my soul. I didn’t wear the crown, but I lit up the entire hall with a smile that touched hearts. And that, in itself, was a victory.

That experience taught me a powerful lesson: It’s not about the title you hold, but the impact you make. It’s not about the destination, but the journey.



The Beauty of Perseverance:

The path to any goal isn’t always easy. There will be moments when you give your all and still feel like it’s not enough. But those are the very moments that shape you—they reveal your strength and build your resilience.

Perseverance isn’t just about pushing through; it’s about growing through. Every setback adds a layer to your story, a lesson to your journey. And often, what you gain in the process—strength, wisdom, character—is far more valuable than the outcome itself.

You always have two choices: to stay down or to rise. And every time you rise, you grow stronger.

Because real success isn’t about never falling—it’s about never giving up.


3 Tips to Stay Motivated and Never Give Up:

  1. Shift Your Perspective: Not everything in life goes according to plan. And that’s okay. Instead of focusing on what you didn’t achieve, look at what you’ve gained.   2. Celebrate the Small Wins: Sometimes, the biggest victories aren’t the ones that get recognized by others. Celebrate your progress—no matter how small it may seem

  3. Surround Yourself with Support: No one can achieve greatness alone. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, who believe in your potential, and who encourage you to keep going, even when the journey gets tough, remind you of your worth when you forget it. Their belief in you can make all the difference in your moments of doubt.

The Bottom Line:

The road to success is not always straight, and it’s not always easy. it’s filled with highs and lows, twists and turns. But each setback, each challenge, brings you closer to becoming the person you're meant to be. The strength you build in the face of adversity is a powerful thing.

Just like I did in that pageant, where I didn’t win the crown but walked away with something deeper—so can you. Keep going. Your spark, your resilience, and your unwavering belief in yourself will get you where you need to be.

So, whenever you feel like giving up, remember this: The crown may not always be yours, but the strength, the wisdom, and the heart you carry are treasures that no one can take from you.

Never give up. Even when it’s hard. Even when the road seems endless. Even when it feels like you’re failing. Because your next step could be the one that brings you closer to something greater than you can imagine or may be the one that changes everything.

Meal planning doesn’t have to be fancy or time-consuming — in fact, sticking to simple, traditional meals can be the easiest and healthiest choice\

  • Chapati with a glass of milk.
  • Multigrain chocos with milk
  • Upma made with semolina and mixed vegetables.
  • Rice cheela or Moong dal cheela (savory lentil pancakes).
  • Poha with peanuts and veggies.
  • Khichdi with mixed vegetables.
  • Daliya (broken wheat porridge) with veggies or milk.
  • Nachni (ragi) roti or porridge

How I Stay Motivated When Life Feels Overwhelming


Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are doing great.

Let’s be honest — life can feel like a lot sometimes.

Between the never-ending to-do lists, the dips in energy, and the mental clutter that creeps in, staying motivated isn’t always easy. As a mom of two (a curious 5-year-old and a playful toddler), a makeup artist, a dietician, a content creator, and someone who truly values meaningful work — I’ve had more than a few days where motivation felt completely out of reach.

But I’ve also learned something important:

Motivation isn’t a constant spark — it’s something we gently nurture, refill, and rediscover over time. And in this post, I want to share what’s helped me keep going, stay grounded, and move forward — especially on the hard days.




A Quick Life Update:

A lot has changed over the past few years.

I’m now a proud mom of two beautiful children — a bright, curious 5-year-old daughter and a bubbly, energetic 1-year-old son who keeps me on my toes (and keeps my coffee cup full!). Balancing motherhood with personal dreams hasn’t always been smooth — but it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

And while my days look very different now than they did five years ago, one thing hasn’t changed: my passion for sharing honestly, creating meaningful content, and helping people feel seen and supported.


1. I Accepted That I Can’t Do It All — And That’s Okay


One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve made is letting go of perfection.

I used to push myself to be everywhere, do everything, and check every box — and honestly, it was exhausting. Some days I’m organized, productive, and totally in sync. Other days, I’m just getting through the basics. And both versions of me are valid.

Instead of chasing the ideal, I now aim for progress over pressure. Even if I tick off just one task — that’s still movement. That’s still enough.


2. I Reconnect With My “Why”


Whenever I feel overwhelmed or disconnected, I pause and ask myself:

  • Why did I become a makeup artist?
  • Why do I write poetry?
  • Why did I start this blog?
  • Why did I start creating content and sharing online?
  • Why did I come back to blogging after all these years?

The answer always brings me home:

  • Because I want to create beauty — both through words and through art.
  • Because poetry helps me express what’s often unspoken.
  • Because I want to help people feel stronger, healthier, and less alone.
  • Because I believe in showing the real — the routines, the setbacks, the wins.
  • Because I want to show my children that you can live with passion and purpose — even when life is hard.

3. I Rekindled My Creativity — And It Changed Everything


During my time away from blogging, I didn’t just pause — I pivoted.

I leaned into my creative side and began expressing myself in new (and exciting!) ways.

Over the past few years, I’ve:

  • Enhanced my makeup skills through training and endless practice.

  • Taken bridal and party makeup orders.

  • Became a published author as a contributor in an anthology.

  • Compiled and curated an entire book as an editor.

  • Walked the ramp as a model in fashion shows.

  • Won the title of Mrs. Maharashtra Runner-Up.

These experiences reminded me that I’m not just one thing — I’m a creator, an artist, a writer, a woman of many passions.

And while it’s not always easy to juggle it all, doing what lights me up makes me feel more alive. That energy flows into everything else — parenting, work, self-worth — and it’s helped me stay deeply connected to who I really am.



4. I Lean On My Support System


Behind every overwhelmed mom is someone quietly holding her up — and for me, that’s my husband.

His support has been one of the biggest blessings during this wild, beautiful, chaotic season. Whether it’s helping with the kids, cheering me on through my career shifts, or just being there to listen after a long day — he’s been my rock.

Having that kind of emotional anchor reminds me that I’m not doing this alone. And honestly, that makes all the difference.


5. I Use Small Rituals to Reset


Motivation doesn’t always come from big wins or bold moves.

Sometimes, it’s found in the tiny, everyday rituals that ground me:

  • Writing in my journal.
  • Reading a good book.
  • Listening to music while cooking.
  • Sipping a warm cup of coffee.
  • Putting on a bit of lipstick — just for me.
  • Listening to the sound of rain.

.These moments may seem small, but they bring me back to myself. They remind me that I matter too.


6. I Write to Empower — Myself and Others


Writing has always been my safe space.

Through content, poem, captions, and blog posts like this one, I’ve found a way to reconnect with myself and connect with others. I’ve written about:
